Find the right light for your space. Use this guide to choose the perfect size for table lamps, floor lamps, pendant lights and lampshades.

How we measure

All dimensions on our product pages are measured at fixed reference points so you always know exactly what to expect. Here's what each measurement means.

Height

Measured from the bottom of the base to the highest point of the lamp, including the shade.

Diameter (Ø)

The width of the lamp or shade at its widest point, measured from edge to edge.

Projection

How far a wall light or bracket extends from the wall surface outward.

Cable length

The length of the cable from the ceiling rose to the fitting — not the total hanging height of the lamp.

Table lamps

Choose a table lamp based on where it will be placed. The proportion between the base and the shade matters — and the total height should ideally not exceed two-thirds of the height of the furniture it stands on.

Golden rule: The bottom of the shade on a bedside table lamp should sit at eye level when you're in bed — typically around 100–110 cm above the floor. The same principle applies to a sofa side table when seated.

Floor lamps

A floor lamp adds both atmosphere and functional light to a room. The ideal height depends on its purpose — reading lamps work best low and directed, while ambient lamps can reach higher.

Reading floor lamp: Position the bottom of the shade at shoulder height when seated (approx. 100 cm) so the light falls directly onto your reading material without glare.

Pendant lights

Hanging height shapes both the atmosphere and the functionality of a pendant. The ideal height above a dining table differs from above a kitchen island or in a living room. Pay close attention to the ratio between the fixture diameter and the table below.

Above a dining table: Hang the bottom of the fixture 65–75 cm above the tabletop. For a table of Ø 100–120 cm, choose a fixture of approx. Ø 40–60 cm. Hanging multiple smaller pendants? Use Ø 20–30 cm each and space them evenly.

* Hanging height = the distance from the floor to the bottom of the fixture.

Lampshades

A lampshade can transform an existing base with a fresh look. Make sure the bottom diameter of the shade is equal to or wider than the widest point of the lamp base — this gives the most balanced proportions.

Bulb fittings

The fitting determines which type of bulb you can use. The fittings below are the most common in our range. The fitting type is always stated on each product page — always check before purchasing a replacement bulb.

Large screw cap

The most common fitting. Diameter 27 mm. Used in table lamps, floor lamps, and pendants.

E14

Small screw cap

Smaller screw fitting, diameter 14 mm. Common in wall lights, chandeliers and decorative lamps.

GU10

Twist lock spot

Bayonet pin fitting used in spotlights and recessed fixtures. Push and twist to lock.

G9

Halogen pin

Small pin fitting, 9 mm between pins. Found in designer wall lights and small decorative fixtures.

LED advice: We recommend always using LED bulbs for energy savings and a longer lifespan. For living rooms and bedrooms, choose a colour temperature of 2700K–3000K (warm white). For home offices and kitchens, 3500K–4000K (neutral white) is more comfortable for working.
